Pre-work #3


Yesterday, I introduced you to something called Liminal Thinking, which is ultimately the space in our mind that lies between the subconscious and the conscious mind. Annie Grace used the technique of Liminal Thinking in order to develop the ACT Technique.

A: AWARENESS - This is where we’ll give your beliefs a language. We will bring to life the reasons why you drink. For example.....”I drink because I have a hard job that no one understands”.

C: CLARITY - This is the step that will allow you to discover where this belief came from in the first place and what experiences have you had that prove it’s true?

T: TURNAROUND - This is where the magic happens! We are going to decide if, after researching the facts, this is true for you or not. If it’s not...we are going to learn how to let it go and turn that thought around. I like to call these “reframes.”

Even when we were children, our subconscious minds were being influenced by things all around us. You’ll be amazed by how many thoughts are hanging out in your subconscious mind and causing so much conflict in your mind and in your life. You might even find out after all these years that drinking doesn’t relax you or make your job any easier or help the public understand you. You might find that it’s truly not healthy for you in any capacity. But you’ll just have to try the experiment to find out what’s true for you.

HOMEWORK

  1. Try to drink at least 64 oz of water for the next five days.
