Yep! We’re really going to talk about sex today. I’m guessing most (if not all) of us have experienced alcohol-induced sex and I’d also guess that most of us have had some disappointing results and unpleasant experiences just the same.
Where did we form the idea that a few drinks will make sex better? I mean, research has shown that drinking decreases testosterone in both men and women. The super unsexy outcomes of decreased testosterone include: shrunken testicles, erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, hair loss, and the debatable worst one? ANORGASMIA! Yes, that’s a word and it means the inability to have an orgasm. Those are just a few examples, by the way....the list goes on and is rather long - and yet we argue that a few drinks helps with sex?
I have a secret....and for some, this will be hard to believe, but SOBER SEX IS BETTER! It really is (ask my husband)! When your central nervous system, circulation, respiration, are all in working order, sex takes on a whole new level of enjoyment.
Now that we’ve established that sober sex is better, let’s talk about ways to ‘get in the mood’ that don’t involve alcohol. Now, with our mind firing on all cylinders, we can use better judgment about WHO we have sex with and this is a great start to good sex. You will no longer make poor choices to sleep with someone because you let the booze choose.
Using a massage with some sexy oils can be a great way to get in the mood. Maybe having some music going in the background could enhance the mood. Whatever it is that gets things started, once you’re there, be mindful of the difference between sober sex the next time you try it. You just might find out that I’m right!
